Templates use 1× on weekdays and 0× on weekends, with 3× on the selected day. Verify your broker’s schedule.
Edit weekly rollover multipliers

These weights repeat each week. Enter 0 to skip a day, 1 for normal funding or 3 for triple funding. Date-specific holiday schedules are not fetched.

Illustrative rates, not live data. This tool supports cash, points and pips, not annual-percentage or price-based financing modes. Rates and weekly multipliers are held constant throughout the estimate.

Rollover dates refer to your broker’s calendar, not your device time zone. Holiday adjustments, changing rates, conversion fees and swap-free account rules are excluded. Cash results use your chosen rate currency; point and pip results use the pair’s quote currency, without account-currency conversion. A swap credit does not guarantee a profitable trade.

How to use the forex swap calculator

  1. Choose your forex pair, lot size and trade direction. Obtain the current swap long, swap short and calculation mode from your broker.
  2. Select cash, broker points or pips. For cash rates, choose the stated rate currency. For points or pips, verify contract size; points mode also requires the broker point size.
  3. Enter signed one-funding-day rates. A minus sign represents a debit and a positive rate represents a credit. Do not enter an already tripled rate.
  4. Choose the first rollover date on your broker’s calendar and the number of calendar dates to include. Match the weekly multiplier template to the symbol specification.
  5. Review the selected position total and dated breakdown. The long and short comparison amounts are alternatives, not combined holdings.

Forex swap calculation formulas

The calculator supports three signed daily rate conventions. It assumes rates and position size stay unchanged over the window. Each date’s weekly multiplier contributes to the funding-day total.

Funding-day equivalents = Sum of date multipliers

Cash swap = Cash rate per lot × Lots × Funding-day equivalents

Points swap = Points rate × Point size × Contract size × Lots × Funding-day equivalents

Pips swap = Pips rate × Pip size × Contract size × Lots × Funding-day equivalents

Points and pips estimates use the pair’s quote currency. Cash mode uses the currency of the supplied cash rate. The tool does not convert results into another currency or infer annualised interest calculations.

Worked example: one week of EUR/USD swap

Consider a hypothetical 0.10-lot position with a cash rate of −USD 6.50 per lot per funding day for a long and +USD 2.00 for a short. The example window runs from Tuesday, November 3 through Monday, November 9, 2026.

With 1× on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 3× on Wednesday, and 0× on Saturday and Sunday, the seven calendar dates contain seven funding-day equivalents across five nonzero rollover dates.

Long: one funding day

−USD 0.65

Long: full window

−USD 4.55

Short: full window

+USD 1.40

These are invented example rates, not current broker quotes. A swap credit does not offset all market risk or establish that a position will be profitable.

Triple swap, weekends and broker rollover dates

Some forex schedules apply multiple funding days at one rollover to reflect settlement over weekends. The relevant day can vary by broker and instrument. Currency holidays can also alter settlement and funding schedules.

The default template uses triple Wednesday with zero weekend multipliers. If Wednesday is 3×, the template does not add another charge on Saturday and Sunday. Use the custom weekly multipliers if your broker applies a different repeating pattern.

Enter the broker date of the first rollover event your trade crosses. The calendar window is inclusive of that date. It does not determine whether an intraday trade crossed your broker’s cutoff from open and close timestamps. Date-specific holiday changes require a separate broker check and are not modelled automatically.

Points, pips and cash rates are different

A five-decimal EUR/USD quote commonly has a point size of 0.00001 and pip size of 0.0001. With 100,000 base units per lot, a rate of −6.5 points at 0.10 lots gives a one-funding-day estimate of −USD 0.65. A rate of −6.5 pips at the same size gives −USD 6.50 instead.

Illustrative EUR/USD swap estimates at 0.10 lots
Rate unitExample rateOne funding day
Cash−USD 6.50 per lot−USD 0.65
Points (0.00001)−6.5 points−USD 0.65
Pips (0.0001)−6.5 pips−USD 6.50

Check the broker’s calculation mode before entering a number. Rates expressed as an annual percentage, a percentage of price, or another broker-specific basis require their own formula and are not accepted as points or cash.

Where to find rates and what the estimate excludes

In MetaTrader, inspect the symbol’s specification in Market Watch for the swap mode, long and short rates, contract size and rollover conditions. Broker pricing pages and account documentation may provide additional information.

For the platform fields, see MetaTrader’s Market Watch and specification guide. For an example of a broker using annualised financing, see OANDA’s financing explanation; that percentage-based formula differs from this tool’s supported daily rate modes.

Changing rates, holidays, conversion fees, swap-free administration charges and market profit or loss are excluded. Estimate spread and commission separately with the Spread Cost Calculator.

Forex Swap Calculator FAQ

Swap units, long and short rates, rollover schedules and assumptions.

How do you calculate forex swap?

For a cash rate per lot per funding day, multiply the signed broker rate by lots and the sum of rollover multipliers. For a points rate, also multiply by the broker point size and contract size. A negative result is a debit; a positive result is a credit.

What are swap long and swap short?

Swap long is the rate for holding a buy position across rollover. Swap short applies to a sell position. Rates can differ and both may be negative. Enter the signed rates from your broker rather than assuming one is the opposite of the other.

Why is Wednesday often a triple-swap day?

Some forex schedules apply three funding days at one rollover to account for weekend settlement. Wednesday is a common example, but the day and multipliers depend on the broker, instrument and settlement calendar. Check your symbol specification and adjust the calculator template.

Are broker points the same as pips?

Not necessarily. For a five-decimal EUR/USD quote, a broker point is commonly 0.00001 while a pip is 0.0001. For a three-decimal USD/JPY quote, the point is commonly 0.001 while a pip is 0.01. Verify the point size in your broker's specification.

Which currency are swap amounts shown in?

Cash mode uses the currency you select for the broker's cash rate. Points and pips modes calculate an estimate in the pair's quote currency using the entered contract size. Results are not automatically converted into your account currency.

Do I enter an already tripled swap rate?

No. Enter a normal one-funding-day rate and let the rollover multiplier apply the additional funding days. Entering a tripled rate and a 3× multiplier would count triple funding twice.

How does the rollover date window work?

Enter the date of the first broker rollover event your position crosses, then a window of 1 to 366 consecutive calendar dates. The weekly multiplier for each date determines whether it contributes zero, one or multiple funding-day equivalents. This is not an automatic open-time or close-time calculation.

Does this use live swap rates or holiday calendars?

No. Rates, dates and weekly multipliers are entered manually. The rates are held constant over the window, and date-specific holiday adjustments are not fetched. Annual-percentage financing modes, conversion fees and swap-free account administration rules are not modelled.
